Highlands Ranch is a large master-planned community in northern Douglas County, developed from the early 1980s on, with neighboring Lone Tree and Centennial forming the rest of the south metro. Pam lives in the suburbs and works this area regularly, including Palomino Park, a gated community along the Links Golf Course with its own pools, courts, fitness center and clubhouses.

Housing

What you’ll find

Neighborhoods here were built in phases, so you will find 1980s two-stories, 2000s townhomes and condominiums, and newer homes on the western and southern edges. Highlands Ranch homeowners belong to the Highlands Ranch Community Association, whose dues include access to its recreation centers; many neighborhoods also have their own sub-association. Lone Tree adds RidgeGate’s newer construction, and Centennial offers established subdivisions closer to I-25.

Getting around

Location

C-470 runs along the north edge, with I-25 to the east; RTD light rail reaches Lone Tree and RidgeGate. Downtown Denver is about a 30-minute drive without traffic.
